Zinc Consult is ready to galvanise presence on Teesside
Zinc Consult is continuing its impressive growth with the launch of a new Tees base, after successfully establishing offices in York, Leeds and Glasgow with another office in Birmingham opening shortly.
Zinc offers professional consultancy services over a full range of pre- and post-contract commercial services in the built environment, in both private and public sectors.
The aim is to help clients deliver projects successfully by minimizing risks and optimizing efficient delivery.
Zinc already has a number of staff working on Teesside with a base in Acklam Hall.
The company was established seven years ago by Jonathan Blenkey and Michael Phillips, who were working together for Network Rail when they realised there was a niche in the market for small-sized friendly company offering bespoke services and haven’t looked back since.
Both Jonathan and Mike believe in providing a personal professional service and developing relationships with the aim of becoming a ‘critical friend’ who clients can rely on for sound advice and guidance.
The company has quickly grown to being an established SME and provides commercial services over the majority of the sectors in construction.
Mike Phillips, director of Zinc Consult, said: “We are looking forward to building on our existing relationships in the Tees Valley and to see how we can help the region to thrive going forward.
“We are excited by the recent good news announced on the freeport and also the move of The Treasury and the Department of International Trade to Darlington.
“There is so much of a buzz around the Tees Valley and we are really looking forward to being part of making Teesside great again – it’s been a long time coming.”
Mike added: “Zinc are keen not only to do business on Teesside but also want to get involved and become an integral part of life here.
“In Leeds and further afield in North Yorkshire we have been actively involved in the community, from sponsoring local football teams through to helping a local village action group who need advice and guidance to repair a community centre which was badly damaged in a storm.
“We stepped in and provided pro-bono services to get the much-needed facility back up and running.”
Jonathan says Zinc is actively involved in helping the next generation and wants to invest in the local area.
He said: “We’ve taken on school leavers who’ve not really got an idea what they want to do and have given them a couple of weeks work experience – not doing the photocopying, but getting them involved and providing them an insight in to quantity surveying.
“We have then recommended some of these school leavers to local contractors who have offered apprenticeships. That’s really great news and makes the placements worthwhile.”
Both Jonathan and Mike believe that establishing a business is not just about profitability, but by reinvesting the money back into the local area and are recruiting staff locally.
Zinc is committed to only employing the best possible staff who ‘don’t just sit behind a laptop’, but go out, meet clients and build lasting relationships.
Zinc has already appointed Jackie Dixon-Daley as its Tees Valley strategic business development manager, bringing with her 35 years’ experience in the construction sector and a wealth of contacts, working alongside regional area manager Liam Steel.
